Hi and welcome to my site, where I post stuff I’ve written.

In my professional life, I was a book and magazine editor. It was a wonderful way for a former English major to make a living.
I still take the occasional editing job, but now I’m a full-time humor writer. In the Essays section of this site, I cover such topics as The Craigslist Killer, tiny New York City hotel rooms, and Pampered Chef parties.
I also write The Classics Slacker, where I summarize classic books that I (and probably you) have missed along the way. The motto of “The Classics Slacker” is “I’m reading the classics so you don’t have to.” Currently I’m stuck on Moby-Dick. It’s taking, well, a little longer than I had hoped.

Melville understands: “God help me from ever completing anything. This whole book is but a draught—nay but the draught of a draught. Oh, Time, Strength, Cash, Patience.”
